Land Acknowledgment
We acknowledge that we are on the treaty lands and traditional territory of the Anishinaabe peoples. Specifically, the Ojibwe/Chippewa, Odawa, and Potawatomi peoples, collectively known as the Three Fires Confederacy. This land is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. New Tecumseth is covered by the Lake Simcoe-Nottawasaga Treaty No. 18 signed on October 17, 1818, with the Chippewa Nation.
We acknowledge that we are all treaty people and accept our responsibility to honour all our relations and move forward in the spirit of reconciliation and respect.
